Welcome to Choice and Medication SA HEALTH

The purpose of this website is to provide consumers, carers, families and staff of SA Health with information about psychotropic medicines, which are used to treat mental illnesses.

SA Health recognises the importance of partnering with consumers in decisions about medications, and ensuring consumers and their carers and families have access to reliable and easy to understand information.

The Office of the Chief Psychiatrist has subscribed to Choice and Medication© medicines information resources, with the aims of meeting consumers’ information needs, encouraging active involvement of consumers in their own care, and facilitating shared-decision making. The resources aim to meet the needs of the consumer, being available in a range of languages, font sizes, language proficiency and literacy levels.

This information should be viewed as a tool to facilitate discussion between consumers, their carers, families, doctors and other clinicians. The resources do not replace the approved consumer medicines information leaflets, but can be used in conjunction with these to promote high quality patient care.
